Tetris Couldn't Triumph at This Gaming Ceremony — Another Award Type Could Fix That

As any significant prize-giving event approaches, one notices an outcry to include fresh award types to honor unsung work and satisfy the spirits of fans with niche passions.

A fellow writer has already made advocating for terror-themed awards. That would be fantastic. Equally deserving are tabletop games, representing a passionate advocate's mission. However, I must insist when I prioritize just as with other blinkered fanatics, I have a cast-iron argument backing this proposal remains most pressing above others. The demand is this: It's essential to create an award type for logic-based games.

Organizing Gaming Categories

Categorizing art by genre defies precise measurement; it remains highly personal, and typically generate discussions concluding with vague boundaries. This explains why film award organizations steer clear of genre categories. Yet it remains a necessary evil in the world of video games, which are so diverse it's challenging to consider them a single creative category.

For comprehensive acknowledgment of achievement in video games to be recognized, and to ensure all game types to receive proper recognition, specific award classifications remain vital.

Present Award Structure

Prominent interactive entertainment events offer these classifications covering Action-oriented games, Action/Adventure, RPG experiences, Fighting, Simulation and strategy titles, plus athletic and racing experiences. Between them, these award types effectively encompass many game types, and you can find room for numerous titles.

Different situation exists for brain-teasing titles. No appropriate category exists for their placement. Think about these outstanding current releases, showing diverse approaches: structural challenges of one title, the pulse-pounding block-matching from another release, thought-provoking social scenarios of a third title. Where could they possibly go among existing types? Nowhere, that’s where.

Acknowledgment Issues

Many instances occur excellent brain-teasers released every year that have no home during gaming ceremonies, unless they happen to qualify for categories like Mobile Game, VR/AR Game, or the extremely competitive Indie races.

  • A renowned logic title got overlooked for anything that year
  • Another creative title was excluded in 2019
  • Popular arranging title got ignored recently
  • Just some brain-teasers scraped into small studio or handheld classifications

Value of Brain-Teasers

These are often compact experiences, but the art in brain-teasers is of massive significance. Famous handheld logic titles rank among the most-played games in the world continuing this trend for an extended period.

The iconic tile-matching title challenges popular creative games competing to become best-selling game of all time; it also contends for top gaming experience. Logic titles represent cornerstones to the art of video games, while interacting with almost every other genre.

Proposal and Rationale

Logic titles wouldn't face this problem. One could readily select multiple candidates interesting, varied, worthy titles annually without trouble — actually, with challenge, since numerous excellent so many good games out.

Restating the point, these represent titles without proper classification during prominent ceremonies. Puzzle game makers operate at the challenging frontier interactive creation, developing some of essential manifestations of gaming itself. Comparable to cinema stunt performers, they merit acknowledgment. Don't make them wait decades.
